Additional Info About Our Church
Word of Life Ministries began with a love for people that was nurtured in the heart of a young nationally renowned itinerant pastor named Elder B. Jones. He established three churches in Missouri (Sedalia, Boonville, and Mexico) and mentored a young man named John. Though perceived by his peers as peculiar, he found a place of hope and love in the church. Pastor Hopkins, often recalls the time when pastor Jones prayed the prayer of faith for him to receive healing from a re-occurring illness that changed his life. This transcendent moment along with the day to day mentoring by his mother and grandfather, Deacon Brown, left an indelible mark on his life.
After Elder B. Jones' passing, Pastor Hopkins received the call to ministry and was ordained as a minister by the Church of God in Christ in 1973. Two years later, he became an Elder in the church and began his ministry of evangelism which spanned a decade. During that time, he met a young lady named Connie Holland who was a lead vocalist at her local church. They would marry and receive confirmation to continue their ministry at the Mexico church established by Elder B. Jones in Missouri. With this confirmation by God and the church, Word of Life Ministries was born.
Pastors John and Connie Hopkins continued their ministry of hope and faith providing the gospel to the community and surrounding areas via radio and television. Pastor Connie Hopkins is reminded of a prophetic service with a prevailing message addressed to both she and pastor Hopkins: Update. Through this inspired word and the efforts of their first born son, the radio, television and online ministries of Word of Life were born.
They continue their ministry of evangelism with the efforts of their children who are also ministers. The family provides the good news of hope and salvation via Youtube to nations all over the world. During their early years in radio, Pastor Hopkins would like to sign off with a simple statement that now serves as the creed for Word of Life: The Words that we speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.
