Additional Info About Our Church
The church of Christ began in Jerusalem on the first Pentecost after the ascension of Jesus (Acts 2). The Piedmont church of Christ follows the pattern of the church of the New Testament. We have no man-made creed, but follow only the New Testament (NT). The NT church has no earthly headquarters, but recognizes only the authority of Christ in all things (Eph 1:22-23). We fervently believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, all-sufficient Word of God and that the NT is the new covenant of Jesus, His last will and testament (Heb 9:15-20; Matt 26:28). We invite you to come and worship God according to the precepts of the NT and study with us from God's Holy Word. You will be given a warm welcome at every assembly of the church. At the present we are small in numbers, but strong in the faith and in our world-wide commitment to seek and save the lost. Come and grow with us in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Pet 3:18). Man is lost because of his sin (Rom 3:10,23;6:23). There is only one Gospel (Gal 1:6-9), the power of God unto salvation (Rom 1:16). The saved must teach others that they also might be saved (Mark 16:15-16). It is a privilege to have opportunities to teach Jesus. The Gospel is for all people of every race, background, and economic status. God desires all to be saved (2 Pet 3:9). He has given instructions for salvation through obedient faith (Eph 2:8-10). Man must believe in Christ (John 8:24), turn away from sin (Luke 13:3), confess faith in Christ (Rom 10:9-10), and be immersed into Christ for the remission of sins (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Rom 6:3-4; 1 Pet 3:21). When done with a good heart, the obedient are added to the church (Acts 2:47). Then must remain faithful unto death (Rev 2:10). Worship is composed of singing (Eph 5:19), praying (Acts 2:42), learning from the Gospel (Acts 20:7) and on the 1st day of every week give of our material blessings (1 Cor 16:1-2) and "break bread" (Lord's Supper) (Acts 20:7).
