Additional Info About Our Church
Hosanna Lutheran Church's first worship service was held on February 6, 2011, when 49 faithful people gathered together to worship at the Watertown Event Center, Heritage Theater. In September of 2011 we called our first pastor, Pastor Janine Rew-Werling. On Nov. 4, 2012, the members of Hosanna Lutheran Church voted unanimously to purchase approximately 7 acres of land on 14th Avenue North for a future church facility. Having received all the funds for the final payment of the land, a Building Committee was formed in October 2013. In January 2014 at the Annual Meeting, the congregation voted to begin renting the former Trinity Episcopal Church building located at 500 14th Avenue NW. We worshiped in this facility from March 2, 2014 until July 26, 2015. On May 31, 2015, we celebrated the groundbreaking of our new church building. On August 2, 2015, we began meeting at the Watertown Christian School Gym. We met at this location until our new church building was completed in the spring of 2016. Our first worship service in our new church building was on Palm Sunday, March 20, 2016. Hosanna voted to call Pastor N. Craig Werling at a Congregational Meeting on July 10, 2016. He began his ministry at Hosanna as co-pastor with Pastor Janine on August 1, 2016. On August 14, 2016, our new church building was dedicated to the Glory of God. Hosanna has continued to grow and currently has over 450 baptized members. Hosanna Lutheran Church is a member of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and a member of the Augustana District, LCMC.
Mission:
To Spread God's Word, Share Our Gifts and Strengthen Christ's Church
Vision:
Knowing Jesus; Growing in Jesus; Serving Jesus
Purpose:
The Bible is our Guide to Faith. Faith comes by hearing God's Word. God loves us and gave Himself for us through His Son, Jesus (John 3:16 and Romans 5:8). We are all sinners (Romans 3:10 and Romans 3:23). We are saved by grace, a free gift, and not our works (Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus wants us to receive the free gift of salvation, which is a priceless inheritance kept by the power of God through faith (I Thessalonians 5:9, Revelation 3:20, John 14:6, Romans 10:9-13, I Peter 1:4-5). We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all sufficient sacrifice for our sins. Jesus Christ's atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only path to salvation with the eternal God the Father.
