Additional Info About Our Church
The First Baptist Church of Columbus is a Baptist church located in the Eastern part of Columbus, Ohio. Located at 1185 Noe Bixby Road, our church sits to the east of Big Walnut Creek and in between the city lines of nearby Reynoldsburg and Whitehall, Ohio.
FBC, as the members often refer to it, had its first service on May 24, 1824 in a small meeting room atop the house of a Elder George C. Brown located near the intersection of W. Mound and High Streets.
As of April 1, 2008, the First Baptist Church building sits at 1185 Noe Bixby Road located right off of Interstate 270 and the corner of Main Street and Noe Bixby Road.
Over the last 190 years, our church has had approximately 34 officiating senior pastors and has seen its fair share of members come and go, although most usually stays for years at a time and sometimes life. We currently have 138 members of our church. And we all know each other and treat each other like trouble and we all know each other's trials and tribulations.
Our current pastor is the Reverend Dr. Paul Large who first began officiating over the FBC congregation in October 1998. And every Sunday morning, our pastor preaches valuable and informative sermons that stick with you throughout the weeks and sometimes weeks to come. Pastor Large always tries to implement modern day headlines and situations to go with his sermon and to compare to and contrast from the word of the bible. And he explains his sermon using outlines and in intricate detail those explanations come.
We have a weekly worship service every Sunday beginning at 10:30 am with a coffee fellowship (except for 3rd Sundays) immediately following the worship service in which we all talk to one another while eating and drinking freshly prepared refreshments and meals prepared by a small but excellent kitchen staff.
We also have, on Wednesday evenings, a mid-week prayer beginning at 6:15 pm followed by a bible study starting at 6:45 pm and you can stay and watch our excellent chancel choir rehearse beginning at 7:30 pm. There is also a bible study immediately proceeding the Sunday morning service which begins at 9:30 am. There are four separate bible study groups available to participate in on Sunday mornings; one for grade school-aged children, one for adolescents (aged 12-19), one for young adults and a final one for middle-aged adults and seniors.
Good day and God bless from the First Baptist Church of Columbus.
