Additional Info About Our Church
CEV is a community of real people, ready to worship and to learn the Word of God. There is no pretense here, just a "come as you are" atmosphere. We hope to see you walk through the doors, and we are confident you will be greeted, accepted, and loved.
Mission:
At Calvary East Valley our passionate desire is to Glorify God through the worship of His Son Jesus Christ in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24, 12:32) and to prepare His people for His imminent return by (Luke 19:11-27, 2 Peter 3:11-13) growing in our relationship with God with the ultimate goal of becoming more like Jesus, (1 Thessalonians 4:3, Romans 8:28-30) serving God in the body of Christ with the ultimate goal of building up His church, (Ephesians 4:11-16) and obeying God in the proclamation of the gospel message of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the ultimate goal of bringing the gift of salvation to a lost and dying world! (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 10:14-15, 17)
Vision:
We believe that our passionate desire to Glorify God requires a steadfast commitment to the fellowship of believers, (Hebrews 10:24-25, Galatians 6:2) the uncompromising teaching of Godā s Word, (2 Timothy 4:1-2, Hebrews 4:12) the complete yielding of our lives to the Holy Spirit, (Ephesians 5:15-20, Galatians 5:16, 25) and a desperate dependence upon prayer! (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, James 5:16).
Purpose:
We believe that the book of Acts of the Apostles, as well as the epistles of the New Testament, give us the principles by which the church is to function. We place great importance on the exposition of the Scriptures with a specific emphasis on verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter teaching through the entire Bible. We rely strongly upon the ministry of the Holy Spirit and seek to remain flexible to His leading. We believe that the Holy Spiritā s leading will always be consistent with the clear teaching of the Scripture. We are convinced that where God guides, He provides. Therefore we trust the Lord to provide for and to build His church. We seek to worship and serve the Lord within the context of our culture, yet we recognize that the culture must conform to the Scriptures, not the Scriptures to the culture.
