Additional Info About Our Church
We are an historic chuch serving in a contemporary world. We are also a caring family learning to grow together, worship together, and serve together. There is room for the doubter as well as the strong believer.
Calvary Church is located at 277 Park Avenue South (at 21st Street, near Gramercy Park). St. George's Church is located at 4 Rutherford Place (east of 3rd Ave between 16th and 17th Streets in New York City).
The history of this Parish is revealed not only through the rich heritage of architectural landmarks, but also through the tradition of service and neighborhood development.
The Parish of Calvary St. George's is a community of people who have sought to understand the meaning of their own lives and of society in the context of their faith in Jesus Christ.
Mission:
We seek to rightly divide the word of truth between Law and Gospel, so that the people in the city of New York and beyond might know and confess where they end and God begins. We proclaim the historic faith of Christ and Him crucified. "When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified." (1 Corinthians, 2)
